“Lilong” is a traditional Shanghai neighborhood with intimate scale alleys. Now it is disappearing due to rapid urban development. In “Lilong”, most social activities happened in streets which considered as the main public space.
I tried to design a culture museum which will not only exhibit folk art pieces but also provide a space for people to experience genuine traditional local life. In the museum, I utilized alleys as main design elements to connect exhibition area, cafe, lobby and other public space.
